Redefining Perfect

This week I started work on a project I’ve been wanting to do since I was probably 8.  I started constructing a Victorian Era outfit from the skin out (literally, I made a duct tape dress form & everything). So most of my pictures are around that event. 

Then, at the bottom, the final three are part of my new Project 365 project.  It’s all Mishi’s fault. She twittered and posted about it, and when I said I’d been thinking of it, but was worried of forgetting/messing up she ‘twisted my arm’. Okay, it didn’t take much convincing, but it’s still her fault. I can’t guarantee that I will POST a picture every day, but I will TAKE at least a picture every day and try to post that often.  I’m anxious to see where this takes me…my poor camera has been a bit neglected lately.  And I was really pleased with what I was doing with it over the summer last year…so I’m excited!!

And if you’re curious, the reason that gorgeous cheesecake picture has the title it does is because it was the worlds most beautiful cheesecake but because I had make it in a larger pan than I was used to I’d undercooked it…so it was gorgeous, but ultimately inedible.

I’m trying to play catch up in my hundreds of pictures (finally) that I’ve taken in the past few months and not edited at all. This is batch 1. Taken in Nashville, Indiana. We had some family visiting from out of town and the entire family headed down to Nashville for some shopping and walking. I hauled along my camera and got some shots. I really want to head back down with another photog and just take a photo walk (and drive through BC during full color).  Anyway, without further ado – the shots all taken with my Canon Rebel XTi.

This week was filled with visits with family, sewing for Christmas presents, storms, and a “snake bite”. Pictures in order:
1. 3 cousins all w/in 2 years of each other. It was “Serious” business, donch know?
2. The girls climbed up onto Papa’s lap of their own free will for a story – first time it’s ever happened!
3-6. Sewing projects. My fav shots of the week.
7-8. Bad storms on Tuesday. These pics are two fronts colliding to bring the second wave of massive storms.
9. My “snake bite”. Was playing with the dog and got my arm caught in the choke collar. It hurts like hell, and Archie and the girls decided it looked like a snake bite!

I really didn’t get out my camera much this week. I’ve spent the second half of the week playing with my sewing machine instead of my camera. So, I decided to bring out some of the pictures that I didn’t get to in last week’s showoff of our photo shoot. These were all taken on the White River – where it becomes more of a creek when it’s not raining and runs through our local park. When I was taking the kids around town, we stopped in the park and seeing some other people playing in the river I impulsively took the kids down. The last few pictures were after we were done and I was cleaning the sand off my feet, the girls were changed and running around.

I took the kids out today in an attempt to do a photo shoot of the kids for my family.  I am fairly pleased with the results except that I only got one really decent shot of the three of them together.  But, at least I got the ONE, which is great!  This is only a small sampling of some of the great shots I got!!  There’s a whole section of the kids wading into the creek, getting their clothes soaked…I’m definitely happy with my first official intentional photo shoot!!

And last, but not least, my birthday!  Archie took me to The Melting Pot. It was wonderful and amazing and he didn’t balk at me taking in my camera.  I’d say about 90% of these are straight out of the camera…it was delicious and we had a ton of fun!!!  Oh, and the picture of the back of my head was to show off the hair it took me an hour and a half to style And no, it’s not time to cut it yet.

All of these pictures were taken on 6/19/09.  Indiana had a severe storm and I hunkered down with my camera and took quite a few.  I used my Canon Rebel XTi.  Some of them seem blurry because the wind was so strong it was impossible to stay perfectly still – and with it being so dark, the shutter speed was slow.

All of these pictures were taken at 9ish, so it was dark…all of the light comes from the lightning that was constantly flashing!!

And we had a recent bout of storms. I started to worry when I saw this forming – but it dissipated just as fast. I have it set to a slide show so you can watch the progression!

This week Sookie is home…and I created a recipe…and READ the latest installment of my fav YA vamp series…

1. Homemade-self-created yumminess (Chocolate Orange pufflettes – recipe coming this week)
2. Hunted – The latest in the House of Night Series. Just released Tuesday. Devoured in 3 hours and made me realize Twilight – SUCKED. There is no kind-of like…I was desperate for vamps. It cannot compete. 
3. A timeout that went way too long….she actually fell asleep.
4,5,6. Sookie is home and settling in…isn’t she beautiful?!
